What is Interventional Radiology?
Without requiring extensive surgery, Interventional Radiology or IR for short is a method for identifying and treating illnesses like cancer.
With IR, your doctor uses imaging tests like ultrasounds, CT scans, or MRIs to see inside your body. Then, they perform an operation or administer treatment where it is needed by using tiny equipment like tubes and needles.
Your doctor can insert tools into your body during these procedures through tiny incisions that may be no larger than a pinhole.
Who Are Interventional Radiologists?
A licensed physician who has successfully completed a residency program in interventional radiology.
The American Board of Radiology's board test can thereafter be taken by the candidate.
The interventional radiologist then completes a fellowship-training course of study.
These specialists collaborate closely with other medical professionals and are crucial members of the care team.
